In May 2022, the “Dom Matki” project was launched, offering shelter and support for pregnant women and mothers with infants, especially war refugees from Ukraine and other migrant women in difficult situations. Over the course of two years, we provided long-term shelter for 46 families, distributed hundreds of newborn starter kits, tons of food, and organized numerous charitable events, such as Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The year 2023 brought further successes: we rescued over 90 tons of food, supported 40 organizations, and organized major events for families with children. Despite our efforts to extend our operations, we were forced to end accommodation within the “Dom Matki” program. It was a difficult decision, but we decided to continue our mission in a new form, as we gathered some funds that would not be enough to maintain an accommodation facility but were sufficient to establish a daily support center.

Since August 2024, the building at Kwitnąca 14 Street in Warsaw has started a new life as Kwitnący Dom. The place that once housed a bakery now begins to thrive again, albeit in a different form. Hope has found a home at this address…

Kwitnący Dom is becoming more and more a space where every form of help is tailored to the individual needs of our guests. Every day, we open our doors wide to those seeking support or a moment of respite. We are supported by wonderful volunteers, full of passion and dedication, who have been working with us since day one of the renovation, side by side, to provide a place of assistance to those in need.

Although our kitchen still smells of paint and disinfectant, we believe that very soon it will be filled with the aromas of freshly cooked preserves made from rescued food, which will later be distributed to families in need. This is not just food, but also a bit of warmth and care that we wish to share.

Our warehouses are already filling up with clothes, baby starter kits, and other items. Every item that comes into our hands is carefully sorted and prepared to make life easier for our beneficiaries.

Kwitnący Dom is not meant to be just a place for distributing food and material aid. We want to invest our time in development and integration. Very soon, therapeutic workshops will offer space for self-discovery and the development of soft skills, and multicultural meetings will foster the building of bonds and community among different cultures and nationalities, which has always been so important to us.

At Kwitnący Dom, we are also creating spaces for children and adults, where specialized activities will be held, tailored to their needs. From artistic to educational activities, our efforts are always aimed at supporting the personal development and education of our youngest guests and their families.

Every day, we want to witness how these and many other initiatives bring about change, and how small gestures of support influence the lives of those around us. Kwitnący Dom, just like the former Dom Matki, is more than just a place – it is a community where everyone has the chance to find help, hope, and new opportunities. It is a community of guests, volunteers, donors, partners, sponsors, and us – the few permanent employees.

We believe that we can continue to grow and develop, bringing joy and support to those who need it the most.
